UIC - Universal Intelligent Controller
The Universal Intelligent Controller, UIC, is an intelligent network based controller that natively supports up to 4 reader ports and communicates via RS-485 to its host UIP. Up to 8 UICs can be connected to operate “downstream” from a single UIP. UICs receive database command and control from the UIP host. UICs are individually addressable when not used with the Ethernet network connection and are connected to the UIP in either a bus or star configuration. UICs can be installed up to 4,000 feet from the UIP host. Distance can be extended using approved fiber optic cable and transceivers. Should communication loss with the UIP occur, the UIC continues to function in a downgraded programmable mode.
Each UIC includes a powerful microprocessor and memory for storage of events and card holder activity. In the event connection to the host is lost, the UIC can continue to function in degraded modes based on card holder facility codes, or on time based recent activities by card holders. The UIC can make autonomous decisions for users who have been granted access in the programmed time period. Each board includes 20 supervised configurable inputs, 5 each per door port, each with a tri-color status indicating LED.
Additional UIC product features:
- 4 selectable power jumpers for use with a variety of RTE devices
- 4 selectable lock relay outputs for fail safe, fail secure, dry contact
- 8 flexible Relay outputs, 4 door lock relays, 4 auxiliary relays
- 4 selectable auxiliary relay outputs
- 4 reader ports with selectable power and data types
- Two power supplies with power regulation onboard
- Onboard temperature monitoring
- USB, SD slots
- RS-232, RS-485 & Ethernet connections
- Fire Alarm interface status monitor and connection via the “up” and “down” stream UIP/UICs and to other devices such as: bells, lights, sirens, etc.
